Lightening bugs (Firefiles) are a highly visible insects. People can identify these insects and many can tell stories about playing with these insects when they were children. These insects are prominent in traditional activities and arts of Taiwan. In spite of the strong favorable impression they have made on the psyche of Taiwan's peoples, these insects are slowly disappearing from their habitats are destroyed.
