The Bunun people are the most active and move the most often among the indigenous peoples in Taiwan. They have left their footprints all over the Central Mountain Range and are now known as the "Guardians of the Central Mountain Range". Yushan National Park used to be the original residence of the ancestors for the Bunun people. Now the Bunun people mostly live in the vicinity and the surrounding area. The area has shown cultural and historical significance. A "Bunun Culture Exhibition Center" was established next to the Meishan Visitor Center to introduce the Bunun people's migration, rituals, costumes, hunting gear, farming tools, daily lives, culture, and history.
