In 2002, Yushan National Park set up a permanent sampling area in the Nanzixian river basin and renovated the workstation of the Forestry Bureau and established Nanzixian River Conservation Research Station for academic research and environmental education. Start from the trailhead of Yushan at the 2.8 K location of the Nanxi forest trail and continue down to the 8 K location of the Nanxi forest trail to reach the conservation research station (an elevation of 1,900 meters). There is not much human disturbance so it has become a paradise for ecological observation. However, there is a huge drop in elevation between the entrance of the Nanxi forest trail and the research station (about 700 meters), visitors need to be in excellent shape to access the place. The road has frequent landslides due to geological fragmentation. Visitors must stay alert at all times.
◎Accessing the part beyond Nanxi Conservation Research Station on the Nanxi forest trail requires an application for entry permits in advance.
