玉山國公園管理處（以下簡稱玉管處）自民國101年起，委託財團法人慈心有機農業發展基金會（以下簡稱基金會）輔導園區內的南投縣信義鄉東埔一鄰及周邊高雄市桃源區梅山，兩個布農族部落，朝向永續利用的有機耕作轉型。
起初部落居民對有機耕作感到陌生，擔心產量會下降，無法負擔家計。透過不斷與居民溝通、協調，舉辦教育訓練課程與出外參訪，引發部落居民對有機耕作的興趣與意願。近一步針對有意轉作的農戶，結合相關部門之行政資源、學者、農耕專家…等，多方的支援與陪伴，適時解決農戶許多問題，增進轉作意願。從民國104年起，本計畫輔導範圍從東埔一鄰擴大至整個東埔村，廣納更多有意轉作的農戶。
為部落長遠的未來，結合相關部門舉辦健康檢查、衛教課程，帶動居民從重視自身健康，進而關心環境的健康。另外本會也關注到「孩童的觀念，決定著部落的未來」，持續兩年與東埔國小合作「校園有機蔬食」，今年辦理「一日有機農夫體驗」，將有機的種子落在孩童心中。
歷經四年來不間斷地關懷及陪伴部落居民，已有7戶農友通過有機驗證，驗證面積達5公頃。在生態保育方面，由林務局與本會共同推出的「綠色保育標章」有5戶通過驗證，面積達4公頃，保育大冠鷲、領角鴞。
有機農戶的耕作技術逐年純熟，產量也隨之增加。在104年兩位有機農戶，年收益皆超過以往慣行農耕。由本計畫得知，透過生態產業有機耕作的推動，保育與經濟得以共存；不僅改善部落居民生活，維持經濟收益，亦得以保護部落週邊自然資源，符合國家公園之理念-永續發展。

Since 2012, Yushan National Park Management has authorized Tse-Xin Organic Agriculture Foundation to facilitate two Bunun tribes, which are located in the eastern side of the Xing Yi Village of Nanto County and Meishan of Taoyuan district in remote Kaohsiung, in pursuit of everlasting organic farming transformation.
At first, tribal residents were unfamiliar with organic farming and worried about the slumping number of crops. In order to raise awareness and interests of organic farming, the Foundation consistently negotiated with them and hosted training sessions and institution visits. Moreover, the Foundation associated with agricultural experts and scholars to offer assistance whenever the organic farmers encounter difficulties. Since 2015, the project has expanded into the entire Dongpu Village counselling more candidates on organic farming.
In consideration of future, we held health check and sanitary education with relevant departments and tried to increase consciousness of health and extend over the environment. Besides, the Foundation noticed that the tribe’s future relied on the concepts for children, therefore, we coordinated with Dongpu Elementary School for two consecutive years by holding an event of “Organic Vegetarian School Meal”. In 2015, “Experiencing Organic Farming for One Day” was held to bury an organic seed in the heart of children.
Over four years, since the Management and the Foundation have continuously spared no effort to facilitate the residents, seven farmers have successfully passed the Organic Verification by reaching 5 hectares. On the aspect of ecological conservation, two farmers have applied the Green Conservation Label promoted by the Forestry Bureau in the range of 4 hectares by 5 verified organic farmers, which also conserves Crested Serpent Eagles and Collared Scops Owl.
Organic farming is gradually getting mature, which also reflects on outcome of crops. Two of the organic farmers said that the annual income of organic farming in 2015 surpassed that of traditional farming. As the result of this project, the Foundation concluded that organic farming can fulfil both conservation and economic income. It optimizes the life quality for the residents and protect the natural resources which reaches the everlasting goal of the National Park.
