Located in the central of Taiwan, Yushan National Park is a typical alpine national park with well-preserved natural landscapes, wildlife and biodiversity. The Batongguan Historic Trail built by Qing Dynasty and highland aborigine villages both give recreation, academic research and education to the park. The administrative divisions of Yushan National Park include Xinyi Township, Nantou County, Taoyuan Township, Kaohsiung County, and Zhuoxi Township, Hualien County, which are also traditional territories of Bunun tribe. In the beginning of preparation of national park, survey among towering and steep mountains mostly relied on Bunun young people. They are accustomed to walk in mountain areas. After the establishment of national park, for wisdom and conservation concept of Bunun tribe, and to facilitate partnership with local residents, the mechanism of park rangers were gradually built. For more than twenty years, with passion, teamwork spirit and excellent strength, these park rangers have reached fruitful achievement in all ways: waste cleanup, environmental protection, mountain rescue, hunting trap removal, station management, narration and public service. As time goes by, theses park rangers have faced the problem of alternation of generation and legacies. So the question is: how to enhance sustainable management in national park on the foundation established by these park rangers?
