Introduction to the Mascot

Introduction to the goodwill ambassadors of Itoigawa Geopark- Geomaru and Nuna

Geomaru- the "Dr. Know-it-all" in Itoigawa Geopark!
Geomaru is designed on the basis of the Itoigawa-Shizuoka tectonic line and jade. His body is a spheroid, symbolizing our planet Earth. On his face are two colors, indicating the fault line. Also his forehead and back are ornamented with jade. Geomaru is an unbelievable lovely creature, revived from the ancient Itoigawa River. He possesses comprehensive knowledge about Itoigawa Geopark.

Nuna- a gentile, clever and lovely princess!
The mascot, Nuna, was designed on the basis of the image of Princess Nunagawa River- a gentle, caring and clever princess. Nuna carefully holds a big jade magatama (which means "curved beads" in Japanese) in her hand, and looks forward to greeting visitors to Itoigawa Geopark, and seeing smiles on their faces

Geomaru and Nuna will show up in different activities, saying “hi” to everybody.
