Dongpu Mountain is 2,782 meters high. The trail may be only 800 meters, the slope is quite steep, and the elevation difference is about 300 meters. There are lush forests and plants along the trail. There are also seats and observation deck at 400-meter spot to view the winding New Central Cross-island Highway going toward Tataka and peaks of Yushan mountain. The top of Dongpu Mountain offers a wide view to overlook Yushan peaks, Alishan, Luanda Mountain, Junda Mountain, and tribes in Dongpu. Visitors can appreciate Yushan rhododendron, red-hairy rhododendron, and Taiwanese andromeda up close in spring and summer.
